(Yaaseen) 36 : 40

Neither the sun may catch up with the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, each swims along in its orbit.

The verse teaches that each planet and star has specific orbits. Just as night and day never come together, the sun, moon, or planets never enter the orbit of others. All planets rotate in their orbit due to the mutual attractive force between them. That is the meaning of “each swims along in its orbit.” However, on the Last Day, the sun, moon, and all planets will deviate from their orbits and collide with each other. It is told in verses 75:6-9 that they ask, “When will the Doomsday be?” It is when one’s sight is dazzled, the moon is turned off, and the sun and moon are gathered together.

Since those who live neglecting Adhikr have forgotten the aim of life, they are contented with the luxuries and enjoyment of this worldly life and are engaged in activities that destroy the earth and the universe. They prioritize industries that pollute the air, water, and soil and lag in agriculture and tree planting, which are essential for the existence of living beings. At the peak of such destructive activities, the earth will deviate from its orbit, all planets will collide with each other, turning into dust, and the end of the universe will occur.

The intellectuals mentioned in verses 3:190-191 will realize that the rotation of the earth is increasing unusually. This rotation will gradually increase, causing time to pass quickly. One day, the rotation will reverse, becoming slow, and the sun will rise from the west, as the Lord taught through His Messenger. That Day will be as long as 354 normal days. The Antichrist (Maseeh-A-Dajjal) will appear on that Day, which is equal to one year. When all the people on earth no longer bear the representation of the Impartial Lord by not utilizing Adhikr, and no one is there to command good and forbid evil, all these events will happen. Since the hypocrites and disbelievers do not consider the soul, they do not have the remembrance of the Lord and are hastening the destruction of the universe. As explained in verses 6:26 and 20:99-100, these worst creatures who do not utilize their intelligence will bear the burden of evil for the destruction of the universe. It is warned through verse 78:40 that on the Day when each individual among these disbelievers sees what they have earned, they will wail, “Oh, woe to me! If only I were any other creature, like a dog or a pig, etc.”
